Etymology (of Cannabis)

The plant name Cannabis is from Greek (kánnabis), via Latin cannabis, originally a Scythian or Thracian word, also loaned into Persian as kanab. English hemp (Old English hænep) may be an early loan (predating Grimm's Law) from the same Scythian source.


An extract is another term for concentrate, a highly-potent substance derived from the cannabis plant, extracts are usually produced in a very scientific manner and producing them should generally be left to the experts, as it can be very hard and sometimes dangerous.


The process of obtaining cannabinoid-rich cannabis concentrates from the cannabis plants. The concentrates are produced in a scientific manner that utilizes solvents like butane, alcohol or carbon dioxide. The methods for extraction include Butane Hash Oil (or BHO), ethanol or supercritical carbon dioxide (or CO2), water processes.
