It is a code word used to refer to the socially accepted hour of the day to consume cannabis around 4:20 p.m. (or a.m.) and April 20th (4/20 in the U.S. form) is also celebrated as cannabis’s global holiday. The term originates from San Rafael High School in California (1971) among a group of cannabis-smoking teenagers called the 'Waldos,' who would meet at the campus statue of Louis Pasteur at 4:20 p.m.
Just like 420, 710 is a term used to celebrate dabs and cannabis concentrates on July 10th (7/10 in the U.S. form). The number 710 spells oil when placed backward; a word used to describe potent concentrations of cannabis like hash oil, honey oil, wax, shatter etc. 710, therefore, is the recognized dab holiday for smoking hash oil due to the number resembling the word ‘oil’ when placed upside-down.
