C

Cubic Foot (or Meter)

Volume measurement in feet (or meter): width x length x height = cubic feet (or meter).

Cultivar

A contraction of 'cultivated variety,' a variety of plant that has been intentionally created or selected - not naturally occurring.

Cure

Curing is a very important process during the growth of a cannabis plant, which allows for a much higher quality end product. When you move your plant from the drying process to curing at just the right time, one will have more control over the level of moisture of the bud, allowing for the grower to greatly increase it’s flavor, potency and other desired characteristics. If not cured properly, one will experience a harsher inhale or even bad smelling bud.

Cuticle

A thin layer of plant wax (cutin) on the surface of the aboveground parts of cannabis plants.

D

Dab (or Dabbing)

The process of smoking cannabis concentrates like butane harsh oil, budder, wax or shatter by placing a ‘dab’ of cannabis concentrate onto a heated surface is known as a nail. The super-high concentrates are made by extracting Tetrahydrocannabinol (or THC) which is a strong psychoactive chemical compound and through a process that uses hydrocarbons as the solvent. Dabbing provides a different and more powerful high than smoking buds or flowers thus one should know their limits so as not to overdo it.

Dabber

It is a long, pointy tool used to place the cannabis concentrates to a heated surface or nail while you suck the bong to get the smoke - it’s made of glass or metal and helps a user to dab safely without risking getting hurt.

Damping-Off

Fungus disease that attacks young cannabis seedlings and clones causing the stem to rot at the base - over-watering is the main cause of damping-off.

Dank

A term used by people who regularly get high to refer to something of superior quality. More specifically, it can be used to refer to very strong smelling and thus high-quality cannabis. Dank would be synonymous with words like remarkable and awesome.

Decarboxylate (or Decarbing)

Decarboxylation of cannabis involves exposure of the cannabinoids to extremely hot temperatures (like smoking), thus removing the acidic component of the compound and converting it into a more desired cannabinoid. Acidic compounds such as Tetrahydrocannabinolic Acid (or THCA) and Cannabidiolic Acid (or CBDA) are transformed into Tetrahydrocannabinol (or THC) and Cannabidiol (or CBD) respectively. Once cannabis decarboxylated, it can be used in edibles or tinctures.

Decompose

To rot or decay, etc., through organic chemical change.
