Double-Ended Lights

High-Pressure Sodium (or HPS) light designed to deliver high-intensity and supplemental lighting in greenhouse cannabis production. The lights attach to the greenhouse fixture at both ends to increase light intensity for better plant growth. Double ended lights are the latest evolution of traditional cannabis lighting that was developed to make traditional lighting more competitive with Light-Emitting Diode (or LED) lights.

Downstem

The piece that connects the bowl to the water source. The smoke travels from the bowl containing cannabis through the downstem and into the water so that you can inhale from the bong or bubbler and take in cannabis smoke in a lighter and smoother form. Only devices that involve water filtration require downstems.

Drainage

To the empty soil of excess water - good drainage allows water to pass through the soil, evenly promoting plant growth and bad drainage is where water stands in the soil, actually drowning roots.

Drip Irrigation System

An efficient watering system that employs a main hose with small water emitters (tiny holes) which meter out water one drip a time at regular, frequent intervals.

Drip Line

A line around a plant directly under its outermost branch tips - roots seldom grow beyond the drip line.

Dronabinol

Dronabinol – trade names Marinol and Syndros – is a synthetic form of Tetrahydrocannabinol (or THC) approved as an appetite stimulant for people with Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (or AIDS) and antiemetic for people receiving chemotherapy. THC is the principal psychoactive constituent of cannabis and the term also refers to cannabinoid isomers.

Drug Paraphernalia

A term to denote any equipment, product or accessory that is modified for making, using, or concealing drugs, typically for recreational purposes. Paraphernalia generally falls into two categories - user-specific products and dealer-specific products.

Dry Ice

Cold, white solid substance formed when carbon dioxide (or CO2) is compressed and cooled - dry ice changes into CO2 gas at room temperatures.

Dry Sieve Hash

Dry sieve hash or dry sift is a form of non-solvent hash comprised of extracted cannabis trichomes, parts of the cannabis plant that contain the active compound Tetrahydrocannabinol (or THC) and other cannabinoids like Cannabidiol (or CBD), Cannabinol (or CBN), and Cannabigerol (or CBG). It is done through a technique involving the use of a screen or sieve that mechanically splits the trichome heads from the cannabis plant. The powdery, crystalline resin is captured as it falls from the plant and is referred to as the dry sieve hash.

Dry Soil Pocket

A small portion of soil that remains dry after watering - dry soil pockets may be remedied by adding a wetting agent (soap) to water and/or waiting 15 minutes between watering.
